Prologue
The Last Battle of the 2nd Jedian Civil war
Ender’s whirling spear ended the lives of many enemy soldiers as he cut a desperate path to Nader. This the battle for Jedia’s survival, but despite the ferocity of the soldiers’ fighting Ender strangely felt at peace. After years of being deceived by the conniving Nader, he finally knew that he was on the right side. No longer did he feel uncertainty about the future for he knew in the depths of his heart that this battle would end with his side as the victor. He knew that Jedia, his Jedia, would be free again. How could they not? Were not he and his friends on the side of justice, their cause righteous? Of course they would win Ender concluded.
But as he looked on the battlefield he found that reality was in contradiction to his conclusion. Nader’s men were slaughtering the rebellion. In all the chaos since battle had started, Ender had not had much time to think about the consequences of his actions. He had not even had time to talk to Tchdwn. He had not even considered the possibility that they may lose this battle. Ender came to the sudden realization that their battle plan was failing. His peace was shattered. Ender looked behind himself and saw that the battalion of men under his command was collapsing. He looked to Tchdwn searching for direction, but he found that Tchdwn was doing no better. His battalion was half dead and he himself was fighting off 4 men simultaneously. The battle seemed to be rushing by too quickly. His friends and comrades were falling dead all around him and Nader had the upper hand.
At that moment something in Ender changed, snapped. It was as if his entire being was filled with hatred, hatred toward Nader for betraying him, hatred toward Tchdwn for having a faulty plan. Ender allowed this hatred to consume him and as his rage filled him only one thought rang in his head “Kill Nader”. He quickly smashed in the skull of another one of Nader’s soldiers, and as Ender saw and felt a sense of betrayal emanating from the man’s eyes, Ender became blinded by rage. He vowed that he would be the one to kill Nader today on this battlefield for destroying his family, his home, and his country.
Unknown to Ender, he would never have that opportunity.
