First off, I would like to thank Tigress for urging me to post Chapter 10 tonight, which then made me post Chapter 11 just for the heck of it. Thank you Queeny for raining on my pie.
Chapter 11: Corran's Work
“Lord Twig, I demand to know what is going on! I doubt this is part of your normal routine, and I know right now that this isn’t any drill! Tell me what is going on or I shall cut you down slowly and painfully with no mercy or regret!” Twig seemed to be worried about Tigress’s threat. He calmed himself, knowing he hadn’t failed her yet. He said in a calm voice. “My Queen, you are witnessing an intruder alert. It seems that our ranks have been infiltrated by a spy. We do not know who they are working for or why they are here. It is possible that they only want-.” Twig was cut off by the Commander of Security before he could finish. “My lords, pardon my interruption, but it seems that our intruder has obtained certain files from our mainframe. He is an adept Force-user. As you know, Lord Twig, you have sent an assassin squad in to eliminate the spy. They encountered him at the mainframe, and they haven’t reported back since. If you would, I would like to escort you to our control room. I have something, disturbing, to show you.” Tigress and Twig both looked at each other, and Twig nodded to the commander.
The last (Sith) assassin had hid in the vents as he witnessed the terrible fate that his master had received. It was unnatural. He sensed so much passion, so much anger. He even sensed hunger. It was like the man they had stunned only a minute ago seemed to have been the very power of the Dark Side itself. It was as if he was suffocating from the dark presence that was in the room. It seemed to be receding though, as the presence grew smaller and smaller. He sensed no life, and he could feel that there his master went through something worse than death. The assassin wasted no time in retreating throughout the vents. Execution by Lord Twig himself, or perhaps the Dark Lord Tigress, was better than fighting the creature had just seen. He was still in a panic state, and the adrenaline allowed him to move fast.
Corran caught himself as he fell. His wound was starting to heal through the Force. He was recovering from the rage he had just gone on. It would be some time before he could fully recover though. There were also more side effects to the rage also, which gave him his amount of time to get out of the building. He would have to provide a distraction, perhaps the destruction of the power source to this huge planetary control center. That would cripple the (Sith) long enough for him to hide out and get some rest, and hopefully leave the moon. He pulled the datapad out of the terminal, and then realized something. Why go through the trouble of explosion, when he could simply slice? He first had to make sure what to do first, so he wouldn’t go through much combat and have enough time to escape. Corran began running his fingers through the various keys and started slicing the codes for the doors. After that, he will “fix” the security systems to keep the (Sith) occupied, and finally shut down all power to the building while overloading the mainframe.
Tigress, Twig, and the Commander of Security named Big, watched the recording of Corran killing the three assassins. All were shocked at how the three were killed so quickly, but more struck on how much power the killer had. Tigress knew she sensed extreme amounts of emotion. This killer was somewhat like her. He had her fighting style too, which seemed to be awfully practiced a lot more than Tigress’s. Twig was the first to break the silence. “Amazing. I trained those assassins myself personally. I am surprised that the leader of the squad did not stand much chance against the spy either. I also didn’t know that one would run from the fight. His name was Rew, wasn’t it? Disappointing, isn’t it.” He shot lightning towards the ceiling, which seemed to be strangling the hiding Rew out of the vent above them. “You should know that I do not tolerate failure.” Twig seemed to have been about to finish him off, until Rew seemed to catch Twig’s attention. Rew handed Twig a datapad. As Twig looked it over, he found that it contained information about their new slaves that seemed to be downloaded off of the main terminal. He smiled. “I wonder what a pirate spy would want to know about our new work force.” Twig seemed to shout in sarcasm. “Anything else you have for us, Rew? No? Then I guess you haven’t completely failed me, and you can indeed prove to be more useful. Here.” Twig handed Rew a comlink. “I want you to watch our spy and report anything he does to me. Don’t worry; this is a secure channel with my personal encrypted codes. No one can listen in unless permitted by me.” Rew bowed to Twig, and went back into the vents. “I am surprised Lord Twig. I had thought for sure you would have killed him faster.” Twig turned to Tigress. “I like to discipline failure with slow and painful deaths. They inspire others to not become weak. Apparently, Rew did a good job. I received enough to not run from a fight in the future though. I am starting to wonder who our little spy is. He definitely isn’t any pirate or anything. Perhaps he will tell us in the interrogation.” Twig smiled his usual arrogant smile.
The doors were already locked, and he was almost done with the security systems. He sensed many coming from the different hallways around the room. He immediately activated the force fields, allowing him more time. There, the security systems were active and taking fire to “friendlies”. He heard that screams of soldiers as he heard blaster fire from turrets vaporize them. He also put his breathe mask on, just in case any poison from the vents came his way. He started with the shutdown and the overload. These would be the longest tasks, and it would take time and patience. He had one of those two, and wasn’t sure about the time. He had approximately fifty-three minutes until his slice would be done.
Rew was alert when he sensed gases starting to flow through the vents. He put on his breathe mask and navigated towards the mainframe room. When he got there, he saw Corran with a breathe mask too, and seemed to be slicing the controls. “Lord Twig, the spy is slicing the main terminal. By the looks of things, I think he’s messing with our security.” Rew reported into the comlink. “I am aware of that Rew.” There seemed to be some fighting in the background. “Stand your ground. No one can make it to your location yet. Wait.” Twig went offline for a few seconds. “Rew, listen to me. Our Queen is making her way to the mainframe room. Wait for her there and offer your assistance when she gets there. Apparently, she wants to meet this infiltrator of ours. Lord Twig out.” Rew waited for what could be the most violent Force battle he will ever see. It seemed there will be an all out fight between the spy and the Dark Lord of the Sith.
Tigress made her way down the halls of the superstructure. She destroyed everything in her way, and was anxious to fight and eliminate this intruder. “When I am done with this, Lord Twig will find that he is the incompetent one here, not his underlings.” Tigress thought to herself. Who she thought was clearly the most hardworking (Sith) lord she had ever met was merely inefficient to the empire. She came up to a door guarded by a force field. She merely concentrated, and the walls tore off, disassembling the force field. She then did a huge Force Push, making the doors explode and shoot within the room. They seemed to give the spy quite a fright, as he ignited two red lightsabers.
