Chapter 10: Intruder Alert
Corran rushed into the building. He didn’t have much time. His senses felt as if they had gone haywire. He felt, afraid of something. It was as if he would encounter a lord of death on this mission. A {Jedi}, especially a spy, was no common finding in a (Sith) base. Surprisingly, the command center seemed empty. Perhaps everyone was sleeping? He found a team of five Dark Jedi that just came through a door in the hallway he entered. “Great” he muttered. Fortunatly, they were all behind him chasing after their prey. To his dismay, he found five others in front of him. Corran swore as he ignited two red lightsabers that he got earlier. He started doing a barrage of slashing towards the front, but unpredictably flipped back, beheading two of the Force-users in the group behind him. He managed to stab a third in the shock, and started fighting the other two. He managed to cut on down before the other group got to him, and the one he missed jumped out of the fight. He was running for help. Corran did a Force Repulse as he leaped backwards again, away from the five enemies in front of him. He lept up into an open vent, which seemed surprisingly bigger than normal ones. Corran was relieved he had escaped the Dark Jedi, but became alert again when an alarm had went off. He looked over the map of the command center he downloaded into his datapad. He was almost to the elevator that would take him to the floor the main terminal was on. The floor seemed lifeless, as it was occupied by droids. No doubt the (Sith) were cautious about spies. Apparently, they weren’t cautious enough. Or so Corran hoped. He jumped out of the vents and into the elevator, which he immediately activated to go upwards. All he could do was wait.
“I have found him master! He has taken a turbolift heading up to the main terminal.” The “master” as the assassin called him smiled. “Deactivate it.” The master ordered. “I have a few surprises for him. Lord Twig will be well pleased as my droids bring him this spy’s corpse.” “Yes master.” Uttered the assassin as beeping was heard from the console.
The elevator had stopped. Corran sighed. It seemed as though he would have to fight his way through a maze. He would probably have to blow up the entire building when he left the planet. If he left he planet. He used the two red lightsabers to cut a hole in the roof. He let the metal fall, and jumped up out of it. Corran put the two sabers away, sighed, and let the Force flow to his legs. He got a good start, and started running up the walls of the turbolift shaft. It wasn’t as fast as the lift was, but it was good enough. It was the only thing he had. It wasn’t very stable though. He started to fall when he was startled by a door being blown open. He saw scavenger droids come out, about four of them. They all shot electricity at him as they flew towards him. As he started to fall, he reflected the static back at them, resulting in them crashing towards him. He only had one shot at this. He used the Force and concentrated his fury. Corran shot blue flames that formed from his palms, disentigrating the droid remains. He aimed below him, resulting in a jetpack like effect. Now he was going a good speed. He could see that the elevator had been hit by the flames so hard, even from the distance, that it started to collapse and fall. He shot harder. He was ready to be faint until he stopped and grabbed a ledge. The door above it opened, and staring at him was a masked person aiming a shotgun type weapon at him. It seemed to laugh as it was about to pull the trigger. Either way, Corran contemplated that he would die whether he used one last plan or not. He used it, as it provided some chance of living or a quick death. He let go, Force Pulled the masked figure, and used him to jump onto the ledge. The person screamed as he was kicked to a falling doom by Corran.
“Dang it! We had him! We were so close!” The master seemed infuriated. “No doubt the Force is with him! He is powerful and intelligent. He will be interesting entertainment indeed.” The master beckoned his squad to follow him. The other three anxiously followed him. They all seemed blood thirsty, as they were trained in special techniques.
Corran ran through the doors, only seeing some janitorial droids. He was relieved. He had to hurry fast to hack into the main terminal to get the information he needed. He still sensed the danger he had felt before. As the doors to the mainframe opened, Corran stood in awe. It was the largest he had ever seen. These must be planetary controls of some sort. He plugged in his fake astromech droid arm into a droid terminal and did the familiar combinations. He plugged one of his datapads into the terminal. He had bypassed all security systems and was now downloading all information about the refugees, now slaves to the (Sith) Empire. He was suddenly thrown to the wall and seemed held there by a powerful Force Grip. He was looking right at a (Sith) assassin. He was about to break free, until he was shocked by an invisible object. Corran was on the floor weezing, and had extremely blurry vision. He now saw two dark clothed persons, both seemed to be (Sith) assassins. He was about to sneak in a stimulant that would allow him to recover, but his arms went numb and couldn’t move. Only one word he could think of at this moment. Caught. Corran swore at his failure. He managed to turn over and see that the datapad was flashing. The download was complete. He was so close, and now he had to undergo (Sith) tortures. He closed his eyes. He allowed his emotions to build. The Force was starting to flow through him like a river. He didn’t see a river though. He saw a fire. A fire that could smite the existence of all the life it was. Corran now felt hot, really hot. Words began to be heard. “Fear, anger, hate. Do not shun these words students. Whether you see them as or not, they are actually part of every {Jedi}’s mission. Galactic peace. They are emotions like happiness, joy, and others. You don’t shun those, do you now? The Force can be controlled easily depending on what emotion you feel. Now, let them flow, right beside the Force. See how they twist together. Freeze them, melt them. Seize one you want that will help you focus. Now at last, awaken.” The word echoed in Corran’s head. Awaken, awaken. Awaken! Corran’s eyes opened. He wasn’t going to be taken down. He had gone far, too far. He wouldn’t have it like this.
“I-I-I don’t believe this! How is this possible?” The (Sith) assassin seemed to be screaming. What looked like an unconscious opponent now looked to be a nightmare. His eyes were red, and he was covered by what seemed to be an equally red bubbly liquid. Foam could be seen coming out of his mouth. He got up. The assassins were paralysed. They couldn’t move. They couldn’t keep from staring at his eyes. They both let out loud shrieks as two red light sabers were rammed through their chests. The master and his partner both took awareness of this. The master unleashed a Sith Scorcher on Corran, trying desperatly to take him down. No one, not even someone as superhuman as this one could resist this power. It was more than just Force Lightning. It was a more pure energy, like fire, except combined with lightning to make even more pain. It was ideal to knock out opponents and torture them, as useful power in the eyes of Dark Side assassins. It wasn’t doing much this time, as a blue looking aura had attached itself to the spy’s body. It absorbed the Scorcher, and the master groaned as he was devoured.
